Queen Kapi'olani Regional Park is Hawai'i's oldest and largest public park, 300 acres gifted to the people by King David Kalakaua in 1877 and named for his queen. Bordered by Kalakaua, Monsarrat, and Paki Avenues at the foot of Diamond Head, the park is a daily fixture of local life: a wide 3-mile perimeter jogging loop that hosts the Honolulu Marathon's start and finish, shaded picnic banyans, tennis courts, soccer and rugby fields, the Waikiki Shell amphitheater, and weekend tai chi groups. The famous KCC Farmers Market spills out of Kapi'olani Community College's parking lot just up Diamond Head Road every Saturday 7:30 to 11 a.m. with the island's best loco moco, abalone, and fresh produce. Free street parking around the perimeter fills early on weekends.
"The best place to relax and enjoy a view of Diamond Head. Wide open green space, big shade trees, and you are five minutes from the beach. We came back three mornings to jog the loop."
