Teddy's Bigger Burgers started in 1998 as a single Monsarrat Avenue shack and grew into the burger benchmark every Hawaii visitor eventually compares everything else to. The original Waikiki location at the foot of Kapahulu, across from the zoo, grinds fresh chuck daily and chargrills patties in three sizes, dressing them with their signature 'special sauce', American cheese, and brioche-style buns. The Monster Burger, a triple-decker pushing one pound of beef, is the calling card, but the Kaneohe Bacon Burger and the milkshakes (try the haupia or guava) keep regulars coming back. Hand-cut fries and onion rings round out the tray. Service is fast-casual at the counter with a handful of booths inside, but most travelers grab takeout bags and walk to Kuhio Beach a block away.
"The burgers are huge and so flavorful and the onion rings are so delicious especially with their special dipping sauce."
